Representatives of the Agency for Qualifications participated in the final conference of the Erasmus+ project EPIR (E-Procedure of Institutional Recognition of Foreign Higher Education Documents), which was held on June 8 and 9, 2026, at the "1 Decembrie 1918" University in Alba Iulia, Romania. The project was implemented under the coordination of the University of Novi Sad, with the participation of partner institutions from Serbia, Croatia, Italy, and Romania.
The aim of the project was to improve and digitize the procedures for recognizing foreign higher education documents for the continuation of education, through the development and enhancement of information systems, strengthening institutional capacities, and improving user services. The project was particularly focused on increasing the efficiency of procedures, better accessibility of services to users, and supporting digital transformation in higher education.
During the final conference, the results of all work packages were presented, the achieved goals were analyzed, and the next steps regarding final reporting and ensuring the sustainability of project results were agreed upon. Special attention was given to the exchange of experiences among partners in the development of digital solutions and institutional procedures for the recognition of foreign higher education qualifications.
The Agency for Qualifications actively contributed to the development and testing of innovative digital tools intended for users of recognition procedures within the project. One of the significant results of the project was the development of a chatbot for user support for applicants, which enables faster access to information and simpler communication with users. This solution represents an important step towards further modernization of the services that the Agency provides to citizens and institutions.
Conference participants concluded that the digitization of qualification recognition procedures is one of the key prerequisites for more efficient student mobility and easier access to higher education in the European educational area. The results of the EPIR project will continue to be used even after the project's completion, contributing to the improvement of the quality and accessibility of services in the field of recognition of foreign higher education documents.
